Obama isn't looking nearly as good as he did two months ago. Reverend Wright has hurt him badly, both that he chose this nutcase as his pastor of 20 years, and that he wasn't able to fend off trouble from him in a decisive manner, but chose to bob and weave and backpedal bit by bit. The net result is that he has had far more pain from the episode than necessary, and the enraged pastor is still on the warpath!

Not a good sign for how he would handle a crisis.

The Rev Wright thing is pretty amazing and entertaining television, but I don't think it's that huge a deal in the race for the Presidency. There are a lot of good arguments that Obama can use to both distance himself from Wright's outrageous claims and to argue that his personal process of becoming religious would not have anything to do with his job as President. I agree it shows a poor choice in character judgment which will be a big weapon for the Repubs (do you want the guy who chose Wright as his pastor appointing the leading cabinet members in the government), but it's not the be all and end all of his campaign.

I still can't get over this Wright guy trying to torpedo the first likely viable black Presidential candidate! I'm looking forward to his upcoming appearances.....
