05/05 12:24ET *DJ MTN Says In Talks With Bharti Airtel - I-Net JOHANNESBURG (I-Net Bridge)-MTN Group Ltd. (MTN.JO), Africa's largest mobile phone network operator, Monday said it was in talks with India's Bharti Airtel Ltd. (532454.BY). "MTN is engaged in discussions with Bharti Airtel Ltd. which, if successfully concluded, may have a material effect on the price of the company's securities. The discussions are exploratory in nature and may or may not lead to any transaction," the South Africa-based company said. Shares in MTN have set new records on the speculation it may be an acquisition target, closing up 5.50 rand, or 3.8%, at new high of ZAR150 for a market value of ZAR279.8 billion. {DOw Jones news from C's site]
