<<<If we are looking at catastrophe, the end of life as we know it, maybe even the end of humanity, moderation is no virtue. >>>

The margin for error as to when it all ends could be anywhere from several decades to thousands (or tens of thousand) years.

In cosmic terms, that is a blink of an eye. But from what I understand Al Gore is saying, there is an eminent tipping point where the damage becomes irreversable. That doesn't necessarily mean life ends immediately after reaching the tipping point. It just means there is a tipping point and that tipping could be approaching.

Even if this is true, there are and will be a lot people not giving a darn as long as the end is not in their life time.

Personally, I don't think I will be contributing to fighting GW, but I am not going to discourage those people that feel the calling to do something about it.
