Fred, - Re: >>>Why is it that I have a feeling that Michael Dell has a slightly better beat on the PC industry than you<<<

I agree with you completely. Furthermore, do you know of anyone, or know anyone that knows anyone, who knows how to, and actually, uses a computer - will be satisfied with a sub $1000 PC?

My guess is that most of those sub $1000 computers will never be used. If they are, they are used to play solitaire or some such. In any cases where these people actually learns how to use one, they would immediately be looking for an upgrade.

I have friends who have been to China tell me there's no market even there for cheap PC's. Those aren't people that make a lot of money.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people that watch home shopping channels and a lot of them may buy sub $1000 PC's. But, that's not really the PC market - at least not the market that Michael Dell, Pfieffer, that guy from South Dakota, or the fellas from Taiwan are going after.
