XOM is running peak suction. They have to buy crude to refine on the open market. Profits won't be going up. Maybe down if consumption slows.

Time to draw the line in the Gulf closer to FL and let the American companies drill. ANWAR too.


You want to drill ANWAR and the Gulf to preserve Xom profits?

Solar and Wind are great but that's a much longer transition.

Solar and wind are a partial solution to electrical generation (and ultimately electric vehicles). Conservation is a faster solution to oil than ANWAR and the Gulf which are 10-20 year projects, and won't mean crap without conservation anyway.

With a little foresight and something as simple as a 4% annual increase in CAFE standards this situation could have been avoided.
