As a notorious Corel fan, I am prejudiced. You took the opposite role, together with the other people of the thread we will get as close to reality as possible. Of cause role-change is permitted in this game.
First of all: I agree with the first part of your post, your description of the advantages of the NC which where identified initially.
Picking up my role again: I oppose to your point about the OS.
I do not think the VNC combines all disadvantages and no advantages of the PC and UNIX, if Remagen is there and works as advertised.
You will be able to run all Windows and Java software then.
You will have no Windows software on your HD.
You are freed of the Wintel monopoly.
The costs of the hardware are lower then both PC and UNIX machines
Linux is better then Windows
You are not confined to one OS (Linux), because there can be many OS's suitable for the StrongArm, except Windows. Linux is a good first choice, because choosing this Corel does not vote against any of their (potential) partners in Java.
In fact the OS does not matter anymore, because you run Java.
Considering the browser question: It can, but does not have to be Netscape. Any browser is Ok‚. I think there will be more of them.
