So it appears this time the protest crowd did have time to build up steam because a) it was a Bush presidency, and opposition was forewarned and b) the tribal factions in Iraq and our protest factions at home combined to prolong it. Anything that turned out to be 'false' does not negate the objectives formed when everyone thought that they were true. I'm not convinced that they were false because Iraq is surrounded by places to hide the evidence. I disagree with you about war protesters. Your support of the Gulf War notwithstanding, I think we have lots of people willing to push protests off on otherwise peaceable people just for the thrill of it. They usually do not understand the unintended consequences of their actions, however well meant they might be.
