>>Civil disobedience has its place.

So does supporting our elected leaders. Personally, I don't think this country has had any situations that call for civil disobedience for a very long time, precisely because we do have elected leaders, and they can be voted out without taking to the streets and prolonging whatever agony the country is engaged in.

Sure Iraq costs too much, and the Iraqis should pay for the new democracy they're getting. Why make it take longer and cost more with all this protest and wrangling over it? <<

I know you've signed off, but I wanted to respond anyway. Protest marches and civil disobedience aren't the same thing. Citizens do not violate any law when they march and hold rallies in support of their causes.

My other comment is that I don't see much protesting going on over Iraq. I also don't see how any such protesting, and whatever wrangling is going on, is delaying the victory you still see as being possible in Iraq.
