TJ and others [Chinese as far as I can tell, such as Yiwu the Mad] say in China everyone thinks the same, and they have no need of polls. Their leaders know what everyone wants and forces it on everyone. Of course it doesn't pay to say anything different and TJ is well aware of that.

It's a brave person who stands in the mob in a Nuremberg rally and declines to shove his arm up and shout Sieg Heil even though the situation is ridiculous and makes them so too.

In China, during the 50th celebrations, with silly Jiang Zemin riding up and down the ranks of soldiers, it looked like a Nuremberg rally, even down to Jiang shouting "Sieg" and the mob shouting in reply, "Heil" [though they did it in Chinese of course].

Fanatical nationalism seems to generally lead people to catastrophe. I suppose China will arrive at that destination some time.
