"I think you are confusing the Taliban with people who just want to be left alone in their own country. What they want is total domination over Afghanistan, and to force women to hide their faces."
That thing about protecting other culture's women and deciding who will rule in another nation is kind of tricky, don't you think?
Or maybe you forgot all the joyous, self congratulatory words uttered by the war hawks when we "freed Iraqi women and guaranteed their rights" in the constitution we wrote up for them.
How'd that work out. Oh, that's right, if mothers or daughters venture out without their burkas now they risk getting raped and, or, killed.
I guess their religious brothers don't much care for constitutions that contravene cultural or religious tenets.
I'd suggest you get some help with that missionary thing and take a lesson from history.
It's one thing to act in self defense and strike against those who plot against us, it's another thing to stick your nose in other people's most basic business, using the barrel of your rifle in a futile attempt to prove that might makes right.
Oh, and by the way, you can't kill those who plot against, much less kill their ideas, by running around shooting into crowds of people whose cultures, language, religion and societies we don't have a clue about.
Every effective strike we've made against terrorists and terrorism has been grounded in intelligence gathering and law enforcement activities. The shoot-em-up crap has simply fed steroids to the problem. Ed |
