We lived in the country and most kids I went to school with had a horse. It was nice. We raised a lot of livestock back then... chickens, rabbits, a calf and hog each year. We lived in between aunts and uncles. It was almost like a commune, looking back on it. We grew much of what we ate just before and during WWII.
