They aren't universally popular, but different cultures are more and more universal in the US now. Those who would like to see a perfect melting pot with one outcome will keep tripping over foreign restaurants, churches, cultural festivals, etc. in their towns. Teachers will face kids from dozens of language backgrounds in their schools. And so on. Some of that will melt and some won't. US society has always evolved like that.
