Samsung Electronics sold US$12.85 billion worth of NAND flash in the first quarter 2008, down 18.7% from the fourth quarter of 2007, according to data compiled by DRAMeXchange.

Although Samsung maintained its lead in the segment, the company saw its global market share by revenues decline to 39.6% in the first quarter, down from 41% in the previous quarter, DRAMeXchange observed.

Toshiba managed to boost its share in the global NAND flash market to 26.4% in the first quarter, a sharp increase of 4.1 percentage points from the fourth quarter due to a ramp of its 56nm production, DRAMeXchange noted.
