If there is any public health coverage, it should take the form of some kind of catastrophic loss insurance, rather than "I don't have a doctor so I'll take my cold to the emergency room" type thing.

Where do you think universal coverage works well? I've heard that it stinks everywhere. At least compared to our system. <<

According to my girlfriend, who is Canadian, when she had breast cancer while she was living in Canada, she didn't have to wait to get treatment. Getting an appointment for some thing does sometimes involve wait times, she reports.

She is aghast at what I've gone through and am going through in dealing with all my bills and fighting the insurance company.

If there were public health coverage, people wouldn't have to go to the emergency room to be treated for colds. They'd be able to have a regular doctor.
