What O'Rourke means is he doesn't like idealists who don't line up with his way of thinking. That's hardly novel. I'm not very fond of idealists like Mao, or Lenin. But that's hardly and indictment of being an idealist. Now is it? PJ is a comic who says outrageous things for a laugh. He's very good at it, I could listen to him all day. But don't assume he has a serious meaning or nuanced argument. He just likes to goof.
