Yeah, I know they're talking about basketball when they say that. I just thought that as long as Dan was being silly, I'd join in.
And as long as you're joining in, too, I'll continue to explore this somewhat silly topic.
Basketball players jump in a number of ways. Sometimes they make a running jump, and sometimes they do an in-place vertical spring. They jump highest when slam dunking, which involves a running start.
High jumpers make a running start, and they jump higher, measured vertically, than any basketball player. But to be fair, it's likely that few of them would be able to jump as high if they had to dribble a large ball during their approach.
I, myself, could probably clear about four feet at the point of a gun.
