I teach at a Catholic university. If I had the Bishop's nephew in class, I think I would tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am sure McCain's professors at Annapolis would give the son and grandson of admirals similar consideration. Yet he still ended up at the bottom.

Why would you do that (unless the Bishop were a woman like the Commandant of Midshipmen, heh)?

I lived on the Yard for a few years around age 10 and realized I couldn't hack it, no matter how much of an egghead I could ever be. There's no comparison between a regular college or university and a military academy because of the discipline required. At least 20% of every class doesn't make it. And I don't think his father was an admiral when McCain was a midshipman.

There's more to character and intelligence than a GPA. I think you're barking up the wrong tree.
