I would take the hostile reaction i got yesterday in saying exactly the same thing regarding obama winning the general election, as a no to your question. I created a metric where i saw obama getting 55% of the vote and over 350 electors---a clear and large victory. Some folks here told me to vote for mccain if i thought compromise and consensus were the way to go. Exactly what i was told on lindy bill thread four years ago. Sure bush won narrowly and sure obama can win narrowly too in a more typical red state/blue state battle. But i think mccain will have the advantage in such a race where only purists are allowed to cast ballots for obama.
It should be interesting to see which way Obama goes. I know McCain will try to attract mainstream independents. I suspect Obama will too and then you will hear the shrieks of betrayal from the likes of manalgi and wharf rat. Just like the shrieks of betrayal i got from KLP, Unclewest, Brumar et al four years ago.
