Hi Max,

you don't have gen x pegged very well, but that's understandable. Gen x is very focused on their own future. They work hard, and yes, play hard. They aren't like the Baby Boomers who were wildly politically active, and yet, didn't do a damn thing to secure their own retirements. Gen X is all about securing their own retirement and anything to do with their future. Gen X has every bit the strong feelings that the Baby Boomers did about politics, they just don't show it by picketing, because that would mean taking time off from work...and work is a 16 hour a day proposition for them.

So when it comes time to vote, they will vote, and with an incredible passion. They're too smart to be hoodwinked and don't show a lot of tolerance for political games, which is why Hillary's gas tax didn't go over so well, and why many boomers think they are apathetic. They only respond to true sincerity and to politicians who respect their intelligence, which is why Obama appeals to them. It's also why the Republicans lost many from this generation. Fiscal irresponsibility to the tune of doubling our debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion doesn't go over very well with a generation that is working their butts off to secure their American Dream.

So is this generation different than the boomers in the 70's? Oh yes. Very different. Obama is 100% in tune with this generation. What's funny is that I'm a young boomer, but I feel more like an Xer.

Here are some articles on the differences:
