But to compare the current environment to the 1970's is just wrong. Just how wrong is it, LIG. Oil topped 126 today with gas at $367 or roughly a 3 fold increase in this decade. that is what we experienced in the 70s. Food is up about 20% this year. Rents around me up 15%. Stamps up twice in the last 2 years- the last time that happened was in the 70s. The only thing that isn't going up are people's wages so in that sense, there is a 70s disconnect but the rest of it is eerily similar.
