5/9/08 update
Given the surging price of oil and continuing multi-billion dollar loan writedowns, stocks didn't fall as much as one might expect for the week. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -7.80% YTD (vs. down -6.61% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was down -4.54% YTD (vs. down -2.44% YTD a week ago). The median of the Contest portfolios also fell, closing the week down -10.02% YTD (vs. down -8.92% YTD).
At week's end, as was the case a week ago, 9 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD with 10 of the portfolios beating the NBI. ROBERT's portfolio remained in the lead with a 25.4% YTD gain and GENE's portfolio was in second place with a 20.6% YTD gain.
Enjoy the weekend folks!
