TOKYO, May 8 (Reuters) - Nippon Mining Holdings Inc (5016.T: Quote, Profile, Research) President Mitsunori Takahagi said on Thursday the firm expected to begin production at Chile's Caserones copper mine in 2012, a year later than previously forecast, because its feasibility study will take longer than initially planned.

Nippon Mining, which bought the Caserones mine in 2006, had said it expected to start producing about 110,000 tonnes of copper from 2011.

Takahagi was speaking at a news conference about the company's long-term business programme.
