BANGKOK, May 08, 2008 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex)
-- Padaeng Industry (PDI.TH), a Thai zinc mine and smelter operator, said Thursday it has obtained a new mining license that will allow it to operate its mine in the northern province of Tak for another 15 years.

The Department of Primary Industry and Mining has given a license that is valid until 7 April 2023, the company said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Padaeng suspended operations at its Tak mine in October because of delays in the permit's renewal.

The company has made up for the shortfall of concentrate for its smelter by buying feed on the market.

The smelter has an annual capacity of 110,000 tons of zinc metal.
