No, exponentially. I won't upgrade till I can get 4x speed
increase (less than that isn't visible). But that's me.

But who demands less than xx% increase over the last
model? xx% over previous point is exponential. Bloatware
application vendors make up for it at the same rate, or
maybe a bit faster.

If you want logarithmic, try s/370 or Sun or
Dec clusters. That'll give you logarithmic performance
increase per processor at linear prices (or worse) <gggg>.
Same is true for many NT clusters. Watch for linear
cluster growth from CPQ.
