I agree with you about hamas. In todays NYTimes, a hamas leader explaining why they like obama alludes to JFK and what america once meant to the world. I dont think they expect obama to support their cause, but i do believe that they hope the US can become the honest broker in the mideast that it was once perceived to be. And i say this from the perspective of someone who is very pro-israel. Hamas might be a lot of things but i dont think they are corrupt like fatah (and arafat) is. Honesty at some level is a good thing too. Now if they will just go on record as opposing suicide bombing for MORAL reasons and stop attacking israel with primitive rockets for political reasons, there is the basis on which to turn a 10 year truce with israel into a permanent peace. Love may come later.
