"double down" refers to McCain's intent to pursue the same policies of Bush - more combat troops in Iraq - more tax cuts and more deficit spending - more free market health care etc."

Well then he is mistaken, or he/you are deliberately misrepresenting McCain's position. No matter who takes office, the need for troops in Iraq is diminishing under the current scenario. No one expects to, or proposes to, increase the number. McCain's position is that if you pull out prematurely, you create a return scenario that would be much more costly in human lives and in America's treasure.

Tax cuts when we can get them are a good thing, zero taxes would be great if we could maintain an organized government without them but we can't. When has McCain ever suggested more deficit spending than anyone else?

What may I ask, is wrong with having a free market, health care or otherwise?
