The Gas Standard. Old timers on this thread can remember when there were Silver Certificates in circulation, bills and notes issued by the Treasury that said that they could be redeemed in silver. You could take them to the bank and exchange them for silver dollars, not today's light weight dollar coins, real silver dollars! Heavy large coins affectionately called 'cart-wheels.' I doubt there is anyone in this forum old enough to remember Gold Certificates. Well here's a proposal to once again link our currency to something of real value.
