Here's a modified post from a couple ofweeks ago. I thought I'd teed it up for a few of you bears! However nobody even took a swing ... too easy? How about it???????

Everybody is too fixed on aol's weak financials in the short to medium term.... this stock has always been fundamentally driven by the membership #s (with violent volatility caused by the short term issues and aol's errors) .... and it probably should be for a few more years yet ...

What the long-term players want to see is aol's membership #s continue to dominate everyone else ... then they know that the earnings will follow long-term .... simply because, then a business model must develop to take profitable advantage of the consumer'sgrowing time in front of the screen.

On the other hand the bears will get their pound of flesh from time to time because a decent profit picture probably won't develop for a substantial time..... and it will be relatively easy to frighten investors about whether the profits will ever really arive ..... particularly when Case and crew have a tendency to put their foot in the mouth from time to time.

But in net, in the long term, if aol keeps way ahead of everyone in member #s ....... eventually they win ... even if you and I ( and aol) aren't smart enuf yet to figure out exactly what the business model will be.

...and now we're going to have a big holiday period of computersales ... all w/aol "ready to go" on every computer.... soon there will be so many aol members that Coke will sign up and then ......

Sorry folks but the profits are irrelevant for a while yet.
