I applaud them for defying a federal government that thinks it knows what is best for all citizens, regardless of where they live. We will definitely disagree on this. Why does a local government have the right to shove religion on minors under any circumstances except some kind of authoritarian community, when the federal constitution explicitly forbids it? That's what opens the door to all kinds of other illegal stuff being shoved on people by local cliques who have no respect for actual democracy and individual rights. It's the tyranny of the local majority that terrifies me. A lot of local cliques are somewhat nuts, to be honest. Suppose revival meetings and speaking in tongues and handling snakes happens on school grounds too, where do we draw the lines? There are no lines once the rules are suspended.
