Mme,

Listen to what you are saying

<<Not only is that probably not true, it's not the kind of "truth" we want to support and reinforce, is it?>>

But what if it is true. What if Obama does have a problem with this part of the populace? What if it is something that costs him the election? If it is true, you can't just wish it away.

What if the problem isn't that he is black, but he comes across as elitist? The poorer african american population may give him a pass on this but other ethnicities may not.

If you want to phrase it as you have, your prerogative, your opinion. I see it as campaigning as the candidate that has the broadest appeal and the best chance to win the election in November. I don't necessarily agree with that but I don't see it as nefariously as you do.

I think looking at anything the Clintons do as negative, faulty, racist and putting things in the worst light possible is what is driving many of Clinton's supporters to say in the exit polling that they won't support Obama and will vote for McCain but that is just my opinion. It is also my opinion that most of them will come back to the party because for the dems, again in my opinion, there isn't really anyone else to vote for.

Neal
