Yes, that was an excellent article. Simple and enlightening.

Barak is stuck with a "when did you stop beating your wife" type of situation. He either has to lie about the black community by claiming that Wright's type of "theology" is common in black churches -- or, he must admit having been too accepting and forgiving of radical extremist's rants.

On top of that there is the simple practical question as to why he never separated himself from the "reverend". Where was his political judgment, if nothing else?

I'm not surprised that Wright got pissed off at being compared to a crazy uncle. In return he dissed the Senator by calling him a politician.... which was more than the good Senator could take... and this led, unfortunately, to an end of a beautiful life long friendship. As they say in the high up political circles, things happen.
