Stephen Roach of Morgan Stanley, Asia Division (did they ship him out there to shut him up?), gives a Brit interview, and tells it like it is, has some entertaining comments re the Fed. Video about 15 minutes, takes about three minutes to get to the good stuff:

bloomberg.com

or

tinyurl.com

And now for a fun game you can play at home. Here's a New York Fed interactive "Dynamic Maps of Nonprime Mortgage Conditions in the United States":

newyorkfed.org

Click on "Subprime" or "Alt-A" at the top right, then on items such as "Share low or no documentation" (note 83.2% for California Alt-A), "Share ARMS resetting in 12 mos.", and "Share in foreclosure" at the right for some goodly entertainment. Move cursor over the states to get individual figures, or enter your ZIP code at top left to get local stats. Nice job, except I think the NY Fed could have improved the graphics a bit by adding appropriately placed smoking craters.

NC ;o)
