Dare I say calling your political opponent an "appeaser" is one such invective.

I don't see a problem with that label. It competently describes an important category of behavior.

I have seen no indication that the label fits Obama. I don't think Bush should be making partisan speeches outside the country. And conjuring up Nazis is always tasteless.

But I think that word is a fine and useful one that deserves a place in our discourse.
