So why in the world did Bush make himself and us look like fools begging the Saudis to open the taps?

Politics, of course. And as long as the chattering monkeys in Congress insist of doing exactly the wrong things regarding energy policy, expect prices to continue to climb.

If we get a large hurricane in the wrong part of the Gulf this summer, then "Katie bar the door"...
