That was a great post; thanks for repeating it here. These events are a really clear statement of just how touchy and vulnerable they are on this particular issue.

Of course, we have some here who apparently are DEFENDING Chamberlain's actions -- certainly, if you're going to take THAT approach, it is best to just shut up about it, I think. But assuming that Obama doesn't believe Chamberlain-styled appeasement was the right thing to have done, it is amazing the way the Left shouted and whined in unison, "Not fair, not fair". They had Biden cursing in the hallway, Pelosi having a fit, Reid crapping out, and even Hillary defending Obama.

This was a massive blunder on Obama's part -- one more in a series. I think Obama's strategy with respect to negative reports is to strike back immediately in hopes of shutting it down quickly. In this case, that strategy clearly backfired, as he spoke out so quickly he was clearly "protesting too much".
