My quarrel is not with Obama. If he is he nominee (as appears likely) I will vote for him.

My quarrel is with his supporters who allege racism against Hillary because she courts rural working class whites and then deny there's no racial element in Obama's support.

My quarrel is also with the Democratic party whose rules for the primary are so badly tangled it allowed the nominee of candidate whose apparent victory is clearly not based on the popular will (it might have been had not the caucus states short circuited it).

It instead gives weight to party activists who have the time and money to pack the meetings and negate voters (Texas) and to small rural counties who under Democratic Party rules can have as much influence as populous counties (Nevada, California). it is doubtful Obama would be the winner it the vote was weighted electorally like the general election.

Why does this matter you say? The rules were the same for both candidates.

It matters because it leaves the losers supporters frustrated and perhaps embittered. Not a good outcome to have going into the GE.

And this why Obama better take a long hard look at offering Hillary the VP if she wants it----how else is he going to heal the sense of disenfranchisement that is going to pervade this convention.

Obama's win is based on a confluence of odd circumstances. (I am not saying he didn't do his part--he did--very ably). Count Florida and Michigan and take away the skewed caucus results and Hillary wins.

Under the present system a candidate is produced that does not match up electorally in the GE. This is not good. Even with all the Bush bagagge and McCain's ineptness it will probably be close. You don't a system that produces a candidate not based on voters preferences.
