Recently, had a friend(not gay) to marry in the Catholic Church. The couple did two ceremonies-----one was done in the late winter as a civil union under the laws of the USA and the second ceremony was done after several months of instruction to confirm the marriage in the sight of God via the Catholic Church. Sure, the church ceremony and the civil process are separate. I presume the SC ruling in California has everything to do with the civil ceremony, and nothing to do with the church ceremony, right? Marriage for most religions is between a man and woman. I would imagine the recent ruling in California has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with legal status.
