>>Some jerk woman was on CNN saying that all we had to do was make cars that got 80 miles to the gallon. These Greens have no idea what they are talking about.<<
I bet this Chinese "peasant truck" gets at least 80 mpg. It's a death trap, but we're competing against these guys when we fill up our gas tanks...

Now consider the Reliance Industries refinery expansion in Jamnagar, India. They're using 8,000 welders who earn $8/day, and thousands of other laborers at even cheaper rates. When completed later this year, it will be the largest, most advanced, most cost-effective oil refinery in the world. They'll outbid other refineries (including ours) to pull in oil from places like Venezuela, Mexico, and the Mideast; and sell refined product to the highest global bidder.
Meanwhile, our misguided "leaders" (in both parties) are griping at China to revalue its currency higher. THAT MEANS OUR GAS PRICES GO UP COMPARED TO THEIRS!!! There are four times more Chinese than Americans, and they're buying vehicles like crazy.
So... our gas prices will keep going up, up, up. Yes, we need to open more areas for drilling. But that will likely just replace domestic depletion, and not provide increased supply. So we really do need a vastly more efficient car. I'm hoping we get there via the electric car. |
