As a Christian, I don't feel threatened by Islam in general, at least not the way it's practiced here in America.
Most Muslims I know of believe in the free market of ideals, which is a LOT more than I can say for some liberals, especially those who don't believe in God and who think that mankind really has no free will.

To be clear, the threat isn't against the religion so much as it is against those who practice non-Muslim religions.
And at no time did I or would imply or state that all Muslims are bad or that they all are out to get the rest of the world.
BUT. It is fundamental to the religion that non-Muslims must be either converted or killed. The extremists believe it deeply enough to act on it. The Wahhabists believe it very deeply indeed. And there should be no doubt that many throughout Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, etc., take the premise seriously.
Should we be alarmed? I'm not saying that. But we shouldn't be complacent enough to elect an Obama -- that's for certain. Someone who would "talk" with Iran plays into the hands of the extremists.
I don't believe it is true that someday, bin Laden will give his secret signal and all sorts of bad stuff will happen here. But these people are experts at taking advantage of our weaknesses, and electing a totally inexperienced, naive, weak neophyte like Obama only sets us up for some bigger heartbreak than we can likely imagine at this point.
As others have pointed out, what is he going to do -- get Iran to suddenly change their minds about hating us? That's insanity. The only way to deal with Islam is through persistent hard-line behavior and absolute military strength. |
