I'm playing "Devil's Advocate" on this election because I "think" all 3 candidates that are left are essentially sensible people. Obama seems to be a LOCK to be the nominee, but I'm not absolutely sure because I don't know if something else might popup before the convention. I know the Republicans are digging for stuff, but they'd hold it anyway until after the convention.

It's not just "rednecks" that have a problem with Obama, it's working class folks that don't like to be "classified" in generalizations like "bitter" and such.

"capturing the truly stupid should not be his goal"

A woman said to Adlai Stevenson when he was running for President, "All the intelligent people are voting for you." To which Stevenson replied, "But Madam, you must a get a MAJORITY of the votes." (or somethin' like that)

David Brookes(sp) had a little opinion article about Obama in the NYT's that I found interesting and comforting. He talked to Obama about Lebanon and Obama seemed to have a REAL understanding of the "nuance" of that situation. I'm not sure I could say the same about John McCain since he can't even seem to keep the differences between Shiite and Sunni straight.

SO....I "think" that Obama may have some of the great qualities that his fans seem to feel that he has, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have to "play politics" if he's gonna win. If I were Obama's campaign manager I'd put a big poster up with the word HUMILITY on it and I'd make sure he looked at it everyday.
