The above I read 1989 as Chinua Achebe analysed Conrad's "Heart of Darkness". By the way Coppola's "Appocalise Now" is based on this book.

I read Conrad and T.E. Lawrence as part of my English literature "course". Toynbee for history. Galbraith for economics and so it went...

Elmat.. this is not because you did not stay in school... anymore than why I read so much as a kid.. It was all about you... shirtless or schooled... it was your thirsty mind.. I think you get bogged down in the cookie cutter education thing..

Makes me think in a way of McLuhan contending in his famous line the medium is the message that we are controlled by the medium.. (which you might agree with) but that control is one of submission.. like cookie cutter education.. If you stayed in school does that mean you would not have followed your own path..
