I've read the NYT liberal media hatchet piece. There was nothing in it that was even remotely inappropriate behavior for a Senator.

What, EXACTLY, are you accusing McCain of? If you cannot be precise in your accusation, you obviously don't have a leg to stand on. Senators write letters for constituents ALL THE TIME; they are contacted with problems ALL THE TIME (and in fact, I'm working with a Congressional liason on a Medicare problem as a direct result of such a letter). It is part of the job.
