If America had some fresh leadership you could cover all of your citizens healthcare for half the cost..as i said, look to Taiwan, Switzerland and others..

I think that you and those who think we could save a bundle by adapting a single payer system such as yours are missing an important point. This is something I posted earlier:

"American health care is shaped to an unprecedented degree by five forces:

1) The drug industry

2) The health insurance industry

3) Hospitals

4) Fear of litigation

5) The uniquely American attitude of refusing compromise in access to health care services or products, regardless of the cost (for those who can afford health insurance)"

The missing point is the last one. Americans aren't like Canadians in that regard. We simply would not put up with most of the compromises. And if we didn't, there would be no savings. There would most likely be massive costs. It's one thing to get the congress to pass it. It's another to get people to accede to it.
