It is pretty hard to argue that Islam promotes "modern" lifestyles in any sense of the word.

Again, I point you to the abject failure of Muslims to develop meaningful new technologies, to improve their own literacy, or do any of the things the rest of the world views as "modernization" of lifestyles.
