He had approximately 1 second to choose his response. He thought of JFK's inaugural speech message, "Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate."
That's the message that came through to the undecided and others. He was behind in the race then, by a large margin.

So his answer to questions on important issues doesn't matter except that it sound good and help him advance his campaign at that particular point? If so, why should we believe anything he says, regardless of whether he has time to think about it?

In each such country, the audience is not going to be who Obama will meet with. It is the population of that country and the citizens of many other countries around the world, as well as all of us back home.

I think the issue being raised is meeting w/o preconditions with leaders of rogue nations. Such leaders don't care what their peoples think. They are dictators or oligarchs.

Silently, it will answer the question, "Who is the United States of America?" after our standing and reputation have been butchered over the past 5 years.

Besides how do we know the world will fall in love with Obama? Not even an overwhelming percentage of Democrats here in America have done that. Consider the sizeable percentage of Democratic voters who say they'll never vote for Obama - I think its something like 29% or so. A lot of people may look at Obama and see an inexperienced callow empty suit.

People need to be careful projecting their own emotions onto others.
