AFAI am concerned, Bush took it with the USA PATRIOT Act, in October 2001 in the emotion of post-September 11. Barack is a Constitutional law professor and I hope/believe he will not mention it during the campaign, but all the rash Bush stuff will be examined and pored over for possible recission.

I may read more into "snippets" than is there, but he has commented about restoring rights, and that's what I think he means.

Democrats more than Republicans opposed the USA PATRIOT Act.

The acronym stands for "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001" (Public Law Pub.L. 107-56).
