MM,
<<Bush is not as charismatic as Obama>>
I would agree. But that still doesn't give him a pass on not trying to do something about energy use in this country. Being more provocative, I would dare to say that Bush's neglect on the energy front borders on being unpatriotic, given the fact that we are at war in an area that has become much more strategic because of their oil supplies. The oil revenues have emboldened our enemies and weakened us at home.
On a personal level, from the snopes article you posted, Bush has much more credibility than the other candidates. The democratic candidates here are a bit hypocritical by advocating for things that are hard for the average american to afford but easily affordable to them. I wish someone would have asked one of them a question about their own personal energy use at one of the debates(I didn't see it on the debates that I watched).
<<Charisma just makes me nervous>>
It doesn't make me nervous but I want to see something besides the flash. As has been mentioned many times, talk is cheap. With Obama, I just don't see much of a record that tells me he is going to be successful if elected. He has good ideas, is intelligent and is a great speaker. The question is, can he go to Washington and get anything done?
A question I have raised before and not gotten an answer to is how would you define a successful presidency for each of the candidates. Where are people setting the bar for Obama and McCain? At times, both candidates, but in my mind especially Obama, have thrown so many things out that they are going to accomplish, in reality, how accountable do they have to be for their presidency to be successful?
