A 'Bill/CR' or difference of opinion. 50% Complete?

<< Second, the project is over 50% complete. >>
<< And we know that the average large company in the U.S. is over 50% compliant at this time. (IW 9/22/97) >>

As anyone who has spent ten minutes in an IS management capacity will readily admit, the ONLY time one can accurately gauge the 50% mark of a project is when it has been put to bed. (Picture Wex at his 'day job' reporting on a three alarm fire. "Looks like the fireman are about 50% finished with this baby. Back to you in the studio, Jane."

Which leads me to the more potent point. It is often said of IS projects that the last 10% of the job takes 90% of the effort. Don't re mislead, or 'CR'd', by early reporting folks. It ain't over till its over.
