now where is another? On a tangent, here's another "give them an inch"... How did SS become a de facto national ID card? I still have the SS card that my parents obtained for me when I was 6 years old. Right at the bottom it clearly states "for Social Security purposes only". Big LOL on that! What have we now? To get utilities hooked up, open a bank or brokerage account, obtain a passport, get a drivers licence (and in my state, a fishing and/or boat license), a doctor or dental appointment, and on and on, it's "give me your SS number, please"..
