Yikes, if your brother-in-law works for Earthlink, I hope he has other employment prospects. The company sucks.

I was an Earthlink customer for six months. When I left them to sign with another ISP, they sent me a bill for $543.00, saying that it was accumulated hourly charges that they simply had forgotten to bill previously. The strange thing was that I lived in a city for which they only charged a flat monthly rate.

I sent letters to two attorneys-general and my credit card company, and months later the matter is still unresolved. I agree that AOL stinks, but there are dozens of ISPs better than Earthlink out there.
